Privacy Policy

Effective October 30, 2026. IALFM’s own Privacy Policy: how we collect, use, protect and share your information.

Who we are

This website is run by the Islamic Association of Lewisville and Flower Mound (IALFM), a 501(c)(3) non-profit at 3430 Peters Colony Road, Flower Mound, TX 75022. This policy explains what information the website collects and how it is used.

It covers this website only. Donations, membership, registrations, event RSVPs and bookings happen on the IALFM portal, which has its own privacy policy; the IALFM mobile app has its own privacy policy too.

What we collect

  • Donations. Donations are made on the IALFM portal and paid through Stripe. IALFM receives the details needed to record and receipt the gift, such as the donor’s name, email address, phone number (if given), the amount and what the gift is for.
  • Messages you send us. When you use the contact form we receive your name, email address, phone number (optional), the topic and your message. It is saved in the website’s admin area and emailed to the IALFM staff member or volunteer responsible for that topic.
  • Job applications. If you apply for a position on the Careers page we receive your name, email address, phone number, your resume and any comment you add. It is emailed to the IALFM Board and hiring team and kept in the website’s admin area, where only signed-in staff can open it. Resumes are never published.
  • Questions to “Ask IALFM”. If you use the Ask IALFM chat or the AI answer button in the search box, your question — and, in the chat, your earlier messages in the same conversation — is sent to Anthropic (the maker of the Claude AI) together with the website’s public content to produce an answer. The website does not store your questions: the chat is kept only in your browser tab and disappears when you close it. Anthropic handles questions under its own privacy and data-use terms. Please don’t include personal or sensitive details.
  • Newsletter sign-ups. If you subscribe, your email address goes to our newsletter service, Intuit Mailchimp, which sends the newsletter. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
  • Technical information. Like any website, our hosting provider records basic request information (such as IP address, browser type and pages visited) in server logs, used to keep the site working and secure.

We do not use advertising trackers or analytics services on this website. WordPress sets cookies only for people who sign in to edit the site.

Cookies and your choices

The IALFM website itself sets no cookies for visitors. Your browser keeps three small notes for us on your own device: your cookie choice, announcements you have closed, and whether you have seen the current popup. They never leave your device.

The YouTube videos and Facebook posts on some pages come from those services, which set their own cookies. They stay switched off until you choose Allow in the cookie notice or press Show on one of them. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie choices at the bottom of every page.

Content from other sites

Some pages show videos from YouTube and posts from our Facebook page, and link to WhatsApp, Instagram and other services. When those embeds load, YouTube (Google) and Facebook (Meta) may collect information and set cookies under their own privacy policies, as if you visited their sites directly. Links to other sites are covered by those sites’ policies.

How we use it

  • To reply to your message and follow up on your request.
  • To send the newsletter you asked for.
  • To thank donors, send receipts, and tell donors and members about IALFM’s programs, events, campaigns and announcements by email, WhatsApp and text, as described below.
  • To review job applications.
  • To keep the website secure and working.

We never sell or rent your information, and we do not share it for marketing.

Email communications

If you give IALFM your email address — by donating, joining as a member, registering for a program or event, signing up for the newsletter, or writing to us — IALFM may email you. We send receipts and thank-yous, replies to your messages, notices about your registrations and membership, the newsletter, and information about IALFM’s programs, events, campaigns, fundraising and announcements.

Every promotional email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also write to bod@ialfm.org to stop. We will honor your request promptly. We may still send you a receipt or a notice about your own donation, registration or account. Our emails are sent by IALFM and by the email services that deliver them for us.

WhatsApp and text messages

WhatsApp. If you give IALFM your mobile number, IALFM may message you on WhatsApp — individually, or through broadcast lists, channels or community groups — to thank you, confirm and remind you about your donation, registration or event, and to tell you about IALFM’s programs, events, campaigns, fundraising and announcements. WhatsApp is run by Meta and handles your number and messages under its own terms and privacy policy. If you join an IALFM WhatsApp group or community, other members may be able to see your name and number, depending on that group’s settings. To stop, tell us, leave or mute the group or channel, or block IALFM in WhatsApp.

Text messages (SMS/MMS). IALFM may also text you for the same purposes. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP (or END, QUIT, CANCEL or UNSUBSCRIBE) to any text to stop receiving texts; we will send one message to confirm. Reply HELP for help, or write to bod@ialfm.org. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Your agreement. By donating to IALFM and giving us your email address or mobile number, you agree that IALFM may contact you by email, WhatsApp and text message as described here. Agreeing to WhatsApp or text messages is not a condition of donating or of using any IALFM service, and you can withdraw your agreement at any time. We keep a record of your consent and your opt-outs so that we can honor them.

No sharing of phone numbers. We do not share your mobile number, or the fact that you agreed to receive texts or WhatsApp messages, with any third party or affiliate for marketing or promotional purposes. The only outsiders who handle it are the providers that deliver our messages for us.

Donors and members

Donors are not automatically members. Giving to IALFM does not make you a member. To become a member, you must submit a membership application through the IALFM portal and meet IALFM’s membership requirements. Donors and members are contacted in the way described above.

Who can see it

We do not share your email address, phone number or other contact details with anyone outside IALFM. We do not sell, rent or trade donor, member or visitor information, and we never contact our donors on behalf of other organizations. Your details are seen only by authorized IALFM staff and volunteers who need them to respond or to carry out the purposes above.

The only exceptions are (1) the service providers that run the website, send our email, texts, WhatsApp messages and newsletter, process payments and host our data on our behalf, who are required to use your information only to provide those services to IALFM, and (2) disclosures required by law, or needed to protect people’s safety or IALFM’s rights.

How long we keep it

Contact messages are kept while they are needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping, and are then deleted. Newsletter subscriptions last until you unsubscribe. Donation and receipt records are kept as long as IALFM needs them for tax, audit and legal purposes, and records of your message consent and opt-outs for as long as we may contact you. Job applications are kept only as long as needed for hiring, then deleted.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Parents who believe their child sent us information can ask us to delete it.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information you sent us, stop email, text and WhatsApp messages, and unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. Contact us using the details below.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limiting access to those who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please don’t send card numbers or other sensitive financial details through the contact form.
